Among the surface treatment methods nitridation is the most often used one. The essence of it is the alloying of nitrogen into the steel surface thus achieving an01230001_nitridlsi_adag_500 extraordinary hard and wear-proof crust. The hardness and thickness of the crust depends of the kind and particle-size of the steel.


The heat-strength of the nitridated layer is quite high and does not change up to 450oC. 

The other great advantage of nitridation is that it significantly increases the corrosion resistance of the steel.


Nitridation can be applied to every part where there is a need of great hardness and abrasion together with corrosion is not allowed. In turn however it cannot be applied for parts with great dynamic load because the nitridated layer may crack.


Nitridation can be done only on a finished part.
